Interior Alaskan wrangler, John Hoegberg, moved to the state of Alaska 20 years ago and received a degree in engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

"Farmer John" now operates the Heavy Horse Farm located near 4-mile Chena Hot Springs Rd. in Fairbanks, AK. Here he cares for 10 horses and 22 sled dogs and two "house dogs" named Joe and Cafe'..

The winter season finds him hitching up draft horses for Christmastime old-fashioned sleigh rides or harnessing sled dogs for winter camping tours to the Alaska Range.
